About Us
Welcome to Zebulon Coffee Roasters. We are a family owned and operated business that started as a simple business plan 20 years ago.
Plans changed, we moved, were blessed with three amazing children, and pursued other career opportunities.
In 2021, we decided to move back to the Midwest, where we grew up, and takeover another family owned business, in McGregor, Iowa. A small, family friendly, river town, on the banks of the Mississippi River. We are now second generation owner/operators of a historic Inn & Sweet Shop.
Our building was built in 1860, for the North Iowa Times newspaper. It made perfect sense to put the coffee roastery in this building, just as the printing presses were once operating in this space. Customers can come in for a sweet treat, fresh baked good, or coffee & tea, and see our coffee roastery in person.
Why Zebulon? We wanted to honor explorers and patriots that went before us. Zebulon Pike was commissioned by the US Government to explore the upper reaches of the Mississippi River in the newly acquired Louisiana Territory, in 1805. His goals were to map the river's course, establish relations with Native American tribes, & identify potential potential sites for future military forts. This expedition passed right past our small town of McGregor before it was founded and Pikes Peak State Park, located here in McGregor, is named after him.
"Really Good Coffee" is our motto. No frills or fancy descriptions here. We believe you should enjoy every cup of coffee, not just drink it to wake up. This is why we are focused on crafting coffee that simply tastes good.
