What is white coffee?
White coffee is very light-roasted coffee. Typically halfway roasted, to approximately 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and much less time than our other coffees. White coffee completes its roasting process well before the first crack happens.
What does white coffee look & taste like?
White coffee beans have a pale yellow, almost creamy color with no surface oils. When brewed, the color is very light yellow or beige. It looks nothing like regular brewed coffee.
White coffee's initial taste is delicate, raw, and vegetative, with notes of peanuts, raw coffee, and grass. This is due to its underdeveloped roast profile. Further sips reveal hay-like earthiness and herbaceous undertones. White coffee finishes with subtle hints of burlap, dry peanuts, and wood. White coffee is typically mixed with milk or cream for a creamier taste.
What are the health benefits of drinking white coffee?
White coffee retains more of the green coffee bean's qualities (antioxidants, higher caffeine level, and lower acidity) and beneficial compounds like chlorogenic acid due to it's shorter roasting time. White coffee can contain up to 50% more caffeine than most fully-roasted coffee.
Recommended brewing methods
Espresso, Moka Pot, or AeroPress. White espresso tastes very different than traditional espresso. It has a vanilla and butter smell to it and a sweet, almond-like flavor.
Grind
The preferred grind is "espresso" to help produce the most flavorful coffee. We recommend you order it ground as the white coffee beans are extremely dense and hard due to the shorter roasting time and lower roasting temperature. Most residential grinders cannot properly grind this coffee.
